Introduction
The story begins with Princess Ovelia praying and a knight named Agrias and a priest named Simon trying to hurry her along. Before long, a Black Knight, Gafgarion, enters with two squires, Ramza (the protagonist of this story) and Rad.
Gafgarion tries to rush the princess along rudely, before discussing the "rude knaves" among the Hokuten. Just as Ovelia is about to leave, a female Knight comes in wounded by an enemy outside. Simon asks if it is Prince Goltana's men and the group rushes outside to meet the enemy.

Aftermath
Following the battle, Ovelia is kidnapped and the kidnapper escapes on a Chocobo.
