Gameplay is the same as the first Wizardry game.

Starting a new game[edit]

Unlike in the previous two Wizardry scenarios, you can't make news characters in Wizardry III. You must instead transfer them from Wizardry I or II. Transferred characters do not keep their equipment or gold, they start over at level 1 with no experience points, and they lose all of their learned spells. Even characters who learned spells and then switched classes will know none of the previous spells, making them potentially unsuitable for your party.

You may wish to have a basic party with two Fighters, two Mages, one Thief, and one Priest. Ideally, everyone in your party should be Neutral with one exception. Lords and Ninjas are not a good choice for this scenario, as they are unable to switch alignments, and that is required to complete Wizardry III.

Additionally, it's a good idea to have a Bishop that you leave at home. Create one in Wizardry I and transfer him over. Each time you return home, give all of the unknown items to the Bishop and have him identify everything. Give the non cursed items back to the party. If the Bishop winds up with too many cursed items, delete him and start over with a newly transferred Bishop.
